What Would You Do? Red Wolf Mortality
Moderated by Mark MacAllister
How would you work to limit human-caused deaths in the wild red wolf population?

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's five-year report on red wolf recovery tells us that more than half of all red wolf deaths are directly or indirectly related to human activity. The most frequent human-caused deaths among wild red wolves are from gunshots and vehicle strikes. Death from gunshot is a particular problem, especially for breeding red wolves, because gunshot deaths have effects far beyond just the individual wolves lost.

For more information on red wolf mortality, see Red Wolf Recovery 5-Year Report. Then, after you have read the article, use this discussion forum to answer this question: What would you do?
