Find Articles
The Find Articles function will help you find particular words or phrases contained in Field Trip Earth articles. To perform an article search:
- Select the field trip you wish to explore. Note that you can choose to search every article in all of the field trips. You can also search the articles in the "What I Know About..." section or the articles in the "Field Reports" section.
- Choose the word or words you wish to search for. For example, if you want to find articles containing the word "elephant," type elephant into the search box.
- You can choose to match words exactly as part of your search
process. If you choose to match words exactly, then entering
elephant in the search box will return a list of all the articles
containing the word "elephant." However, the list will not include articles
that contain only the words "elephants" or "elephantitis."
If you choose not to match exactly, then entering elephant into the search box will return a list of articles containing the words "elephant," "elephants," and "elephantitis." - You can also search for an entire phrase. For example, entering red wolf recovery in the text box will return a list of all articles containing the complete phrase "red wolf recovery." However, this search will not return a list of articles that contain only the words "red" or "wolf" or "recovery"—the article must contain the exact phrase in order to be listed.
- Once you have chosen your search terms, click the search button. The search function will examine the articles and return a list of matching articles. The best matches for your search terms will be at the top of that list.

Find Media
The Find Media function will help you find specific photos, video, or other media on the Field Trip Earth site. To perform a media search:
- Choose the field trip you wish to explore. Note that you can choose to search just one field trip, or that you can search all of the field trips on the website. If you choose to search all field trips, your search will also include the "What I Know About..." articles and the "Field Reports" articles.
- Choose the type of media you are looking for. Again, you have the option to search for all media types.
- Finally, enter the word(s) you wish to search for.
- Once you have made your choices, click the search button. The search function will examine the words in the title of each media element on the site. If any title words match the search word(s) you entered, you will then see a page of thumbnails (and links to the full- sized versions) representing each matching media element.

Find an Author
The Find an Author function will help you find all articles written by a particular author for the Field Trip Earth website. To perform an author search:
- Select the name of the author from the pulldown menu.
- Click the search button. The search function will return a list of articles written by that individual. The list will begin with the most recently edited article.
